Satin Gloves and Distinguished Boys to Men

Satin Gloves and Distinguished Boys to Men are mentoring programs
that prepare girls and boys ages 7-17 to meet the difficulties of adolescence and young adulthood through a program of activities and learning experiences that help them to achieve social, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being goals.
Girls and boys participate in group and 1:1 mentoring, community service, and enrichment activities as they gain the ability to lead themselves and others as they continue to grow in adolescence. Also, they evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses within themselves. They will establish personal goals, self-confidence, and self-esteem throughout a 6-month program that will meet once a month for 2 hours. At the end of the program, they can participate in a pageant that awards incentives and scholarships if all requirements are met.
The girls and boys will be divided into three groups according to age and grade level as follows:
Beginning Buds – Ages 7 –10 Girls and boys need a healthy understanding
about the start of their life.  As they begin their journey to adolescence,
mentoring provides girls and boys with a strong foundation, so they enter
adolescence with high self-esteem and self-confidence.
Intermediate Buds –Ages 11 – 14 During these years, girls and boys being
their teenage years. They experience many transitions throughout middle
school. With the body steady changing and developing can contribute to low
self-esteem and conflicting relationships with peers. Through mentoring, it is
vital to teach high self-love, self-esteem, and self-confidence as they continue
to grow into young adulthood.
Advanced Buds – Ages 15 – 17 As these young ladies and gentlemen
transition in high school, they are searching for independence and identity. 
While in high school, their personal needs and priorities towards their future
careers and roles are the basis for goals set for their lives. They receive skill
building and prep courses to assist them in their future endeavors.
